La Triste Historia - The colour of Death

Following on from the last post, we’re now showing off ‘Magdalena’, the love interest of the story, and the ‘Butterfly’, the journey man and the spiritual representation of fallen spirits in Mexican folk lore.

The colours used here were chosen to mimic the Day of the Dead’s themes, such as Death is not to be feared.  The film starts with warm, limited palettes of pastel tones which move to more vivid and bright colours as Death and the festival percolate the world and the story.
